Part of Jane McCracken's exquisite series of works entitled 'In Homage to The Last Great Carnivores of Eurasia' this piece features fragments of Rembrandt's 'The Windmill', representing as it does a window in to Art in the 15th to 17th Century. A time when the natural world was beginning to be plundered to satisfy man's curiosity and desire to hunt. With only 35 Amur Leopards estimated to be remaining in the wilds of Russia and a handful in China the picture for these wonderful creates looks bleak.

 

This work, as with all the others in the series have been featured in a number of solo exhibitions and are the subject of considerable interest from Animal Conservation groups and collectors alike.  

Note:  All of the pieces in this series were created on paper using just a ballpoint pen, its amazing what a Bic can do when in the hands of someone as talented as Jane.
